Position Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Construction Inspector – NICET III to support roadway, bridge, and infrastructure projects throughout Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. This senior-level field position is ideal for a self-directed professional capable of leading inspection assignments, coordinating with agencies and contractors, and mentoring junior inspection staff.
The successful candidate will serve as a key field representative, ensuring projects are constructed in accordance with contract documents, NYSDOT standards, and client expectations while supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily construction inspection activities for roadway, bridge, and infrastructure projects
- Monitor contractor operations for compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards
- Prepare detailed daily reports and maintain accurate project records
- Verify and document quantities for contractor payments
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, agencies, and project stakeholders
- Identify field issues and assist in developing timely resolutions
- Review work performed by junior inspectors and provide guidance and mentorship
- Attend project progress meetings and represent field observations when required
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, project procedures, and quality requirements
Qualifications
- NICET Level III Certification in Construction Inspection or equivalent
- Minimum 5–10 years of construction inspection experience
- Strong working knowledge of NYSDOT specifications and procedures
- Experience with NYSDOT Region 10 or Region 11 projects
- Proficiency with SiteManager
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred
- Additional construction inspection certifications preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred
- Experience supporting Engineer-in-Charge (EIC) functions preferred
- Prior experience mentoring or supervising inspection staff preferred
Compensation
Compensation: $48–$62 per hour, depending on experience and level. Final title and compensation will align with qualifications and responsibilities.
