LKB Engineering was retained to provide structural design services for a residential renovation in Boston. The renovation included the removal and partial removal of existing walls and the installation of a new double-sided fireplace unit and hearth. Prior to construction, LKB Engineering performed site visits to determine the configuration of existing framing, structural design calculations, and construction document preparation to obtain a construction permit and prepared responses to Building Department plan review comments and contractor comments/questions. During construction, LKB Engineering visited the site to verify that the new structural components were installed properly, reviewed shop drawings related to the structural scope of work and responded to Building Department and contractor comments/questions.
