Nassau County Community Revitalization Program

About this Project

LKB Engineering provided complete engineering design and topographic survey services for various streetscape beautifications for downtown business districts of towns, villages, and cities located throughout the County. The County had identified these sites in need of revitalization. LKB Engineering worked closely with the County, the public, local businesses, local officials, and legislators to address community concerns and needs. This resulted in a safe and cost-effective downtown design scheme, and, most importantly, the district’s beautification and revival of its positive perception within the business community. The design process included survey, schematic and preliminary designs, provision of final contract documents to solicit contractors’ bids, and assistance to the County during the bid phase. New amenities include sidewalks, decorative pavements, handicap ramps, curbs, landscaping, lighting, grading and drainage, and street/site furniture such as benches and litter receptacles. Sites included:

  • North Merrick (1,500 feet)
  • Mineola Boulevard, Phase 2 – Old Country Road to 3rd, 2nd & 1st Streets, Inc. Village of Mineola (2,000+ feet)
  • Merrick Road, Massapequa (2,700 feet)
  • Broadway Avenue, Phase 1 (600 feet) and Phase 2 (2,800 feet), Bethpage
  • Streetscape Reconstruction, Westbury Avenue, Carle Place (1,200 feet)
